Purpose:
The Brothers United in Leadership Development (B.U.I.L.D.) Summit, presented by the North Carolina State University College of Education, is an annual event designed to expose 9th -11th grade high school male students, in particular male students of color, to the diverse role of leaders in a growing global society. Through the summit, participants will learn leadership skills, the variety of academic disciplines in the education field, develop skills to enhance their career and college readiness, and have the opportunity to form connections with other participants. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with college student leaders, university faculty, community leaders, and K-12 teachers and administrators, as well as increase their knowledge about the post-secondary education environment.
Event Details:
This year’s theme for the annual B.U.I.L.D. Summit is, “Building Community”. The event will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 within the North Carolina State University College of Education (Poe Hall). Registration will be held from 8:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m. and the event will conclude at 3:30 p.m. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided to all participants and the event is free of cost. Participants are responsible for transportation to and from the event. Participants attending in groups of 10 or more are encouraged to be accompanied by a chaperoned group, school, or community organization. All participants must submit a registration form and be notified of their registration status prior to attending the event.
Registration Instructions:
For students interested in attending the event, please complete both the online registration form and the parent/guardian signature form found at the links below. Please return the parent/guardian signature form to the mailing address, fax number, or e-mail address found at the bottom of the signature form by March 26, 2018.
There are 100 spaces available for participants to attend the event which are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. The forms will be reviewed in the order in which they are received. Participants will be notified via e-mail of their registration status and given further event details during this time (i.e. event itinerary, campus map, detailed directions, etc.). Participants must be notified of their registration status prior to attending the April 14th event.
